A native of Ohio, Matthew Dowler (b. 1999) is a composer of vocal, instrumental, and electronic/mixed media music. His works are intended to interact with the performer in diverse ways, inviting them to interpret or react to what is on the page or screen. With works that attempt to capture the uncertain or unknown, construction and deconstruction are vital to his exploration of vague or fragmentary musical ideas. His works have been performed at recitals, concerts, and festivals in Ohio and West Virginia.

Matthew is currently writing music and pursuing an undergraduate degree at Ohio University under composition faculty Dr. Robert McClure and Dr. Mark Phillips.
